Agassi's behavior: from fist to foul language
Mr. Cronin,
You state in your recent article that in covering [Andre] Agassi
for the past 12-years, that you have never seen him fist-pump.
I'm curious, have you ever heard him cuss-out another player across
the net? Ever???
I've been following his career for lots longer than twelve years.
I have heard him cuss at umpires and linesmen and himself.
I have seen him throw rackets and heard of him spitting at an umpire.
I have seen him kick water coolers and tennis posts.
I have seen him barely touch the hand of an opponent after a match
because he was angry at the opponent.
But never have I seen him publicly even berate an opponent, let
alone call him a f------ a------.
Oh, I am not suggesting that Agassi didn't say what he said. I'm
just stating from viewing the match that there was a great deal
of provocation of the side of Mardy Fish. I don't know where you
were looking, but not even Lleyton Hewitt was as deliberate and
as pointed with the fist pumps and the victory yells as was the
young Mr. Fish.
I don't know that I would have called Fish a f------ a------.
But I do think that a------ is perfectly appropriate.
