FEEDBACK: WEDNESDAY, JULY 24

Seles deserves better

You can't be serious putting Monica [Seles] at No. 9?

You think Dementieva is better? I'd take that bet today – right now – on a hardcourt or any surface.

Dementieva wins, I'll do your laundry for a year. Seles wins, you send a limousine and box seats to the [U.S.] Open and write "Seles Rules" in chalk, 1000 times on a
tennis court. :)

Monica just came off of a hard-fought loss to Venus [Williams] at the French and then made it to Wimbledon' quarters and lost a close match to Henin (who should beat Monica on grass). I think she is in excellent form to make a run this summer. She has the advantage of JCap [Jennifer Capriati] being punch-drunk from Serena [Williams], [Martina] Hingis out, [Lindsay] Davenport just coming back, [Kim] Clijsters staggering, and a possible mini-let down from the Williams sisters after their recent stunning run (not to mention that she will only have to face 1 of them in non-slam events like the upcoming Bank of the West).

The next three months are a major opportunity for Monica, a chance to get back to at least No. 3 and make a serious run at the U.S. Open and the Chase. As far as retirement, I think it is 50-50 as to whether she plays the Slams next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see her make a real run at the Australian next year, but after that, who knows?

Dementieva, [Amelie] Mauresmo, [Chanda] Rubin, [Daniela] Hantuchova ahead of Monica?? Come on dude … Henin shouldn't even be ahead of her. Monica will take care of her this summer.
