DAVYDENKO WANTS TO BECOME AUSTRIAN: Putting the final nail in the coffin of Austrian-Russian hostilities that date back to WW2, Nikolay Davydenko applies for Austrian citizenship so he can take better advantage of their training facilities and not face the hassle of traveling with a Russian passport. Smells a lot like Greg Rusedski's money driven transition to England to me.

DULCE'S DOLCE VITA: Not even a year old, Maria Sharapova's once chubby puppy, Dulce, premiers in a hilarious manner on her new Canon commercial. What's next, the puppy matching yaps with his owner's grunts?

US WINS A MATCH AT WORLD TEAM CUP: The US scores a 2-1 win over Argentina on clay in Duesseldorf, with James Blake beating Agustin Calleri 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 and the Bryan brothers trouncing Calleri/Juan Ignacio Chela 6-2, 6-1. The question is: Can Blake beat a similar level player at RG next week? Chile bested Sweden behind Nicolas Massu and Fernando Gonzalez, only one of whom is a legit RG contender and he has an Argentine girlfriend.

MURRAY PULLS OUT OF FRENCH: As expected, Andy Murray pulled out of RG with a wrist injury and isn't sure when he'll return for the grass-court season - if at all. The BBC is already in a full-scale panic. Bring back Rusedski!

LTA SELLS QUEEN'S CLUB BACK TO MEMBERS: The Lawn Tennis Association completes the sale of the historic Queen's Club to its members for around $69 million and says it will reinvest the sum in British tennis. Who knew that Brad Gilbert was going to get a raise so soon?

SHARAPOVA STRUGGLES, VENUS FLIES: Istanbul has brought in a terrific field, but not all the stars that showed are in top form. In her first match since Miami, top-seed Maria Sharapova inched past Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova 6-4, 7-6(1). Venus Williams looked quite good in wasting Tatiana Poutchek 6-1, 6-2. Venus will need a great week to get her confidence back up before Paris, as she can't crack the Top 16 seeds at RG, even with a title. A third-round clash with Serena could be looming.

SANIA LOVES BIG MACS: Mirza has an Agassi moment, admitting "My favorite bad meal is McDonald's. … I just love the Big Mac. I'm not a big fan of fries unless I'm very hungry; I'm not a potato fan. But it's only once in a while." Time to switch that diet if you're going to crack the Top 20.
