Yes, Pete Sampras did actually retire from professional tennis a few years ago, though lately it has gotten a bit confusing.

The former No. 1 has been seemingly everywhere and anywhere as it relates to tennis these days. Turn on the Tennis Channel, and there he is. Open a tennis magazine, and there he is. Exhibition tickets are selling, the top pros are fawning, message boards are buzzing, and the media is frothing.
