King of France … againNadal thrashes Federer for third straight titleBy Matthew Cronin, TennisReporters.net It was once said of Bjorn Borg that he was an enlightened player, one who could see his matches clearly, with an eagle's eye for where his prey was going to try to hide. The same can now of Rafael Nadal, who stuck another lance into Roger Federer's Grand Slam heart with 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 piercing in the Roland Garros final. Nadal became the first man since the Borg to win three straight French crowns and even Borg was unable to pull off the feat in his first three years in Paris, losing to Adriano Panatta is his debut in 1973. But Rafa had no such teenager jitter in his 2005 debut and certainly isn't shaking now. Nadal is now 21-0 in Paris, and during his hat trick, has never looked vulnerable. © TennisReporters.net 2007 |
