Vince Spadea's comeback from oblivion can partially be credited
to Pete Fisher, Pete Sampras' former junior coach who spent more
than three years in jail for two felony child molestation convictions.
Since December, the Floridian Spadea has been traveling to Los Angeles
to work with Fisher, who also has spent some time with Alexandra
Stevenson.
"Its been great,"
said Spadea. "He knows so much about the game. "Spadea
says he contacted Fisher who is credited with developing
Sampras' nearly perfect service motion because "he's
one of the great names in the game. "
Fisher isn't allowed to travel,
so Spadea talks to him every couple days to discuss strategy and
stokes. Like Stevenson, Spadea isn't bothered by Fisher's past.
"It doesn't bother me at all," Spadea told tennisreporters.net.
Spadea has also worked with Mary Pierce's controversial father,
Jim, who was once banned from the tour for abusing officials and
allegedly abusing his daughter.
