Former
No. 1 Jim Courier, now a popular TNT broadcaster as well as budding
professional musician, will take the hot seat opposite Regis Philbin
and test his knowledge on the popular ABC game show Who
Wants To Be A Millionaire.
Courier,
who won four Grand Slam titles in the early 1990s, will
be featured on the special sports edition of the show and will
be playing for The Tim and Tom Gullikson Foundation. The shows,
which will air the week of September 10th right after the conclusion
of the U.S. Open, will also feature Martina Navratilova, Charles
Barkley, Johnny Bench, Jeff Gordon, John Elway, Steve Young, and
Laila Ali. All of the celebrities can earn up to $1 million for
their favorite charity and are guaranteed that their charity of
choice will earn at least $32,000 for their appearance.
An
avid reader with a thirst for knowledge pertaining to many different
topics, tennisreporters.net bets that Courier will come out looking
good for his efforts on behalf of the Gullikson Foundation. The
Gullikson Foundation is a charity that aids brain cancer victims
and their families. Tim Gullikson, the former player and former
coach of Pete Sampras, died of brain cancer on May 3, 1996.
Speaking
on behalf of the Gullikson Foundation, Executive Director Donna
Doherty said, We are thrilled and very appreciative that
Jim has chosen to play for the Tim & Tom Gullikson Foundation.
This is an incredible opportunity and with the generosity of the
show, there are only winners.
